WALK LIKE A PANTHER

"Cheeky Boy Films" were helped by The Wrestling Fraternity in their search for wrestling memorabilia and advice on the authenticity of their storyline for a Channel 4 sitcom / pilot. They received a favourable response, and shooting began in January 2011. The programme is due to be broadcast in September 2011 on Channel 4 in the UK. If that goes well, there is talk of a follow-up

WRESTLERS IN CELLULOID

When the world of showbiz is casting around for 'all-action' heroes (and villains) for movies and stage productions, where better to start the search than the wrestling ring? Several articles from wrestling magazines in the 1960s and 70s show what they found.

STAGE PLAY

A comedy stage play billed as a "British Heavyweight Champion Comedy". Based on the battles between Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks.

ATV STARS

From a 1960s ATV annual, a short piece about the 'phenomenon' of wrestling on television on Saturday afternoons, plus photographs of Big Ian Campbell taking on Stan Ogden (and Ena Sharples) of Coronation Street.
