NORTHERN WRESTLERS' REUNION (Leeds)

Sunday 7th March 2010

The Northern Reunion of British Professional Wrestlers was held at the Rothwell Sports Centre, Leeds, on Sunday 7th March 2010.

Tony Kelly, Tarzan Boy Darren and Steve Fury did a great job in booking the venue and contacting so many wrestlers. This reunion was for wrestlers, their families and invited guests to share memories and renew old acquaintances. It was a chance to meet in a social setting for a few drinks, and to enjoy the buffet generously provided by the organisers. Speeches were kept to a minimum, but Tarzan Boy Darren took to the microphone to call each of the wrestlers forward for a 'photo-shoot', and Marty Jones's MC performance from the previous evening continued briefly as he thanked the organisers for a job well-done.

The previous evening had seen Norman Ellis's first venture into wrestling promotions. Everyone fortunate enough to attend the welcome revival of the old "World of Sport" style wrestling was united in their praise for a very entertaining show. Klondyke Kate, fresh from her appearance winding up the audience as an 'interfering manager', was heard to speak for the participants when she thanked Norman not just for organising the show, but for his hospitality in making sure they were all 'fed and watered' - apparently above and beyond the normal call of duty for a promoter!
