Eddie Rose was the ring name of Eddie Caldwell, a Manchester PE teacher during the 1960s and 70s. He followed a path chosen by other famous teacher-wrestlers of the time including Sean Regan, Gus LeBrun, Steve Best and Brian Glover. Eddie was also a member of two famous tag teams, The Red Devils with Ian Wilson and Peter Lindberg and, for a couple of years, The Black Diamonds with Abe Ginsberg.

This book describes Eddie's ring career and the famous wrestlers and personalities he met along the way, from Jack Pye and Count Bartelli to Bert Royal and Vic Faulkner, from Jackie 'Mr TV' Pallo and Alf Cadman to 'Mad Dog' Ian Wilson and 'Cowboy' Jack Cassidy. All of these and many more colourful characters appear in a book which is an affectionate and deeply personal look back at the golden age of British wrestling.

Upon retiring from the ring, Eddie changed careers and qualified as a Massage and Manipulative therapist with practices in Bolton and Bury. He returned to teaching, as a tutor and lecturer in massage, and was later appointed Principal of the Northern Institute of Massage, a post he held for ten years before retiring from full-time work in 2005.
