Leamington Spa lightweight
Jackie Turpin, nephew of British boxing legend Randolph Turpin, made his own name in boxing before trying his hand at Professional Wrestling
Jackie Turpin vs Mick McManus
McManus took the lead with a submission from a single leg boston (photo 08).
McManus thought he had won the bout with another similar hold (photo 12), but it was Turpin and not the referee tapping
his back, fooling him into releasing the hold. Turpin equalised with a cross-press pinfall (photo 16). McManus was
then disqualified for attacking Turpin while his back was turned, and
throwing him out of the ring before the fall could be announced.
Jackie Turpin vs"Cyanide" Sid Cooper
Turpin took the lead with a neat pinfall (photo26). He endured constant "rule bending" and punches from Cooper
throughout the bout. Eventually he retaliated and caught Cooper with a punch of his own (photo 28). Unfortunately, this
led to Turpin's disqualification by referee Peter Szakacs
Jackie Turpin vs Pat Patton.
With Turpin leading by the only fall of the contest, from a piledriver and pinfall (photos 41 & 42), both wrestlers
tumbled out of the ring and were counted out by the referee. Result: A draw
